Welcome back to my blog! I normally don't start with a picture of the final product, but it turned out so well! When my husband and I first moved in together we bought a cheap circle table from a second hand store. At the time, I was just so excited to be taking the next step in our relationship and moving into an apartment, I loved that stupid table. Long story short, that table would not work with the light fixture in our new dining room. I bought this one at a garage sale for $25, but it didn't come with any chairs! |
So, I got busy! I put my old table out on the curb, but kept the four chairs. The color of the wood didn't match the color of our table and they were in rough shape. I used liquid nails to stabilize the chairs where they had come apart. I let that sit overnight to dry. I scrubbed the chairs with goo-be-gone and then did a little bit of sanding. They were so worn down it didn't take much. Finally, I got to work spray painting them. Again, I like to use a paint with primer. I used a can of paint (2 coats) on each chair. I knew the chairs were going to be used quite a bit, so I also sprayed with a clear coat. Below is the before and after for one of the chairs.
I now had four fun blue chairs that looked awesome, but I knew I wanted two more chairs. They were going to go on each end of the table, so I didn't care if they "matched" the other four chairs. It took me about a week and I came across two chairs that looked like this at a second hand store. They were $10.
I started by removing the seat and the old cushion. The cushion was pretty gross, I had to replace the foam. I glued the new foam onto the seat and used a staple gun to staple new fabric on. I chose a neutral color. I didn't want too much else going on with the blue. Then I sprayed the frame of the chair with white spray paint. I did a little sanding first and rubbed down with goo-be-gone to remove any residue. Below you can see the transformation! |
I hope you enjoyed my dining room table and chairs transformation. If you have a transformation you would like to share send me an email at [email protected]. I'd love to see them!
